Welcome to the Hudson Area Schools Alumni Page
After graduation, we all scattered. After all our years of school together, we all went our separate ways. That’s not a bad thing. We took what we learned at good ol’ Hudson High and built successful careers, families, and lives. And wherever we went, we took a little bit of Hudson with us. But no matter where you go, or where you went, I encourage you to stay connected to this small town, and this small school. It made us who we are today. It’s our home, and after all, we’re all Tigers.
The Hudson Area Schools Alumni page is here to help you reconnect with your school. Use this page as a source of information about alumni happenings and other alumni matters. Find out what's new at Hudson, and share your stories to inspire current Tigers. You have a lot to offer. You can make a difference.
As a Hudson Alum, your involvement is critical to our success. I welcome you to stay in touch, to reconnect, and to inspire.
Best Regards,
Nancy Jenkins-Arno

beautiful homes featured on second Christmas Home tour A second Christmas Home Tour has been planned for December 7, 2019, from 1 to 5 pm in Hudson. Sponsored by the Hudson Alumni Association, the tour will feature five beautifully decorated homes that are sure to put visitors in the holiday spirit.
The homes on the tour are an excellent cross sampling of the types of construction that can be found in the Hudson area. Back by popular demand, two homes that were on the tour last year will once again be featured on the tour this year. The Ladenberger House, was built in the 1840s, and is the oldest home on the tour. Visitors will find that many of the home’s original features have been preserved. The Coleman Foundation, also built in the 1800s, is a proud example of the Italianate design originally built by one of Hudson’s first business owners, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. New this year, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Rectory will be opened to allow visitors to tour this home that has so much meaning and historic significance. The Rectory was built in 1907 using stones that were brought in by Catholic farm families from their fields. The Rowley House was designed to capture the beauty of the property where it is located and will be charmingly decorated with seven Christmas trees. The Stump House is the most unique home on the tour. It's most prominent feature is its two towers. Built with Hudson Limestone, it has earned its title, the "Castle House." The tour begins at the Hudson Museum, located at 219 W. Main St. The Museum is a wealth of information on Hudson history, and has been classified as one of the finest small town museums in the State of Michigan. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased on the day of the tour at the Hudson Museum, 219 W. Main St., or in advance at the Hudson Alumni Association, 550 E. Main St. Proceeds will go to The Press Box Fundraiser. The tour was planned to coincide with the Hudson Community Chorus Christmas Cantata, which will perform its second concert of the weekend on December 7th at 7:30 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tour-goers are encouraged to arrange their day so that they can take in both the sights and sounds of the holiday season with the tour and the concert. Press Box Fundraiser

Thompson Field, home of the mighty Hudson Tigers, was donated to the City of Hudson in 1921 by G.I. Thompson and his son William, and was later deeded to Hudson Area Schools by the City. From the Press Box that was built in 1964, announcers, coaches and members of the press have witnessed the exploits of the outstanding football teams that have defined Hudson’s legacy. Champions and leaders have emerged from this modest home field, and it’s time to rebuild the Press Box so that it reflects Hudson’s proud history.
The Current Condition
· Steep ladders are the only way to reach the second and third floors · Rotting floors, peeling roof tiles, exposed electric wires, and unstable railings make the current Press Box unsafe · Outdated bathrooms are not up-to-code |
The New Press Box
· Will feature only a slightly larger footprint to accommodate stairs and make the bathrooms compliant · Coaches will be able to watch games from inside |

138th Annual Hudson Alumni Banquet A Success

Alumni from across the country and around the world returned to Hudson on July 27, for the 138th Annual Hudson Alumni Banquet. Representatives from 35 classes were in attendance, including Chuck Ames from the Class of 1944, and Mary Hazen Enerson and Hazel Pray Monahan from the Class of 1945. Mikayla Bowen was also present to represent the Class of 2019. Peter Dentler who had been an Exchange Student in 1964, traveled from Germany with his wife Sue to celebrate his classes’ 55th Reunion. Alumni came from as far away as Florida, Ohio, Virginia, California, Tennessee, Colorado, Kentucky, South Dakota, and, of course, from all around our home state of Michigan. All the alumni were recognized through a Roll Call of Classes conducted by former Alumni Director Janet Kingsley Fisher, Class of 1974.
Cathy Beal Schoonover, Class of 1978, was the MC for the evening, and Terry Alverson, Class of 1961, gave the invocation before the meal. Former teacher and Coach Dave Rickard led the Tiger Alums in a rousing version of the Hudson Fight Song. The Class of 1969, which was celebrating their 50th Reunion, was honored with a video tribute, and Jennifer Woodward represented the Class of 1994, which celebrated their 25th Reunion, by remembering the welcoming spirit she felt as a student at Hudson High. Nancy Jenkins-Arno, Class of 1982, and Hudson Alumni Director, officially welcomed the Class of 2019 to the Alumni Association. Denise Handy Weaver, Class of 1982, challenged guests to test their knowledge of Hudson High School history with a Tiger Trivia game. The winners were each given a copy of the book “Wave the Flag for Hudson High,” written by John Behee and Tom Saylor. Former Math teacher Mr. Paul Palpant returned for the evening to share his remembrances and stories of his years at Hudson High.
Dave Rickard concluded the evening with the presentation of the 2019 Hall of Fame Award. Norma Riley, former high school secretary, was posthumously honored with the award, which was accepted by her daughter Sheri Riley McCabe. Pam Kramer, Phil Lawrence, Chris Luma, and Ray Curran told of the many ways Norma impacted students and Hudson High as a whole.
The evening was filled with conversation and laughter, as former classmates reunited and recalled the happy years they spent at Hudson High.

Wave the Flag For Hudson High
"The story of Hudson High School's 72-game winning streak is like a work of fiction. Boys in a small, rural community, playing football for a young coach who is sculptured in the all-American boy mold; going undefeated for seven straight seasons and rarely losing a game in a decade; snatching victories from the grasp of defeat in the fourth quarter. That's the stuff boyhood daydreams are made of. That's the stuff reality was made of at Hudson, Michigan from 1966-1976. Not every athlete can have a Tom Saylor to coach them or a Hudson High School to play for, but every athlete and former athlete can touch this fabulous program by reading the story of how the Tigers accomplished their historic feat."
~Steve Owens, former Detroit Lions player, from the forward of Wave the Flag for Hudson High

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Hudson's historic winning streak, Wave the Flag for Hudson High was reproduced. Copies are available for purchase for $20.00 by sending a check to the Hudson Alumni Association, 550 E. Main St., Hudson, MI 49247.
